Ingredients
- 1 jar Spicy Salsa (about 16 oz)
- 4 eggs
- 1/2 cup shredded cheese (queso fresco or cheddar)
- 1/4 onion, diced
- Fresh cilantro
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Crusty bread or tortillas for serving
- Hot sauce for extra heat (optional)
Instructions
- Heat Spicy Salsa in a large skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until it begins to simmer gently.
- Carefully crack eggs into the hot salsa, spacing them evenly throughout.
- Reduce heat to medium-low and cover the skillet with a lid to allow eggs to cook gently.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes until egg whites are set but yolks remain runny (adjust time based on preference).
- While eggs cook, toast bread or warm tortillas.
- Top shakshuka with shredded cheese, diced onion, and fresh cilantro.
- Serve hot directly from the skillet with toasted bread for scooping and dipping.
