The Comb Honey Cassettes are finger-jointed pine sections that let beekeepers produce and present comb honey in ready-to-sell boxes. Each cassette assembles into a rectangle, fits inside a standard Langstroth frame, and lets the bees draw and fill natural comb sealed in edible beeswax.

At a glance

  • Type: Wooden comb honey sections (basswood-style)
  • Material: Pine
  • Assembly: Finger-jointed, fits together without nails, glue, or screws
  • Foundation slots: Two slots for optional thin wax starter strips (not included)
  • Medium cassette: 5-1/16 in x 4-3/16 in x 1-1/2 in
  • Deep cassette: 3-7/8 in x 4-3/16 in x 1-1/2 in
  • Capacity: Medium frame holds 4 cassettes; deep frame holds 8

Best for

  • Beekeepers producing comb honey to sell or gift
  • Showcasing honey exactly as the bees made it
  • An alternative to Ross Rounds or Half Hogg cassettes
  • Adding a premium product line to a honey business

How to use

Assemble each cassette into a rectangle and slide a thin sheet of beeswax foundation into one or both slots as a starter guide. Place the cassettes inside a standard Langstroth frame and let the bees fill them during a nectar flow. Once capped, pop the cassettes from the frame, bag them, and freeze before consumption to protect against pests, then box them for sale. Note that medium and deep cassettes are not interchangeable.
