Piper & Leaf Tea Co. is a family-run artisan tea company in Lacey's Spring, Alabama, with tea shops in nearby Huntsville. It was started in 2013 by three siblings, Connor, Brigette, and MaryClaire, together with Brigette's husband Caleb. The company first traded as Samovar Gardens but was forced to drop that name within months, and after sifting through hundreds of options the family settled on Piper & Leaf: "piper" is an old English word for a singing tea kettle, and "leaf" stands for the tea leaves and herbs in their blends.
The teas are built on premium tea combined with local herbs and produce that the company grows, picks, forages, or sources from farmers across the Southeast. That farm-to-cup approach gives the blends a distinctly regional character, from the sweet-tea-style Front Porch Special to the berry-forward Briar Patch Brew and the dessert-like Chocola-Tea.
