Cinderella Pumpkin (Cucurbita maxima), also known as Rouge Vif d'Etampes, is a stunning heirloom with a flattened, coach-shaped form, heavy ribs, and glossy red-orange skin. Beyond its fairy-tale looks, the thick flesh has excellent, naturally sweet flavor for pies, soups, and roasting, on vigorous vines.

How to grow

Sow 1/2 to 1 inch deep once soil reaches 70 to 90°F, in full sun and rich, well-draining soil. Give the vigorous vines plenty of room, spacing plants 2 to 4 feet apart. The fruit matures in about 105 days; harvest when the skin is firm and deeply colored, leaving a length of stem for storage and display.
