Eyelet Punch
Eyelet Punch
The Eyelet Punch, also called a rampin, is a single-purpose tool for pressing metal eyelets (grommets) into the pre-drilled holes of wooden frame sidebars. It is an essential step when building frames with 100% beeswax foundation and support wires, since the eyelets keep the wire from cutting into the wood.
At a glance
- Type: Eyelet-setting tool (rampin)
- Use: Presses eyelets into frame sidebar holes
- Protects: Keeps frame wires from cutting into the wood
- Best for: Frames with wired beeswax foundation
- Build: Durable, made for repeated use
Best for
- Beekeepers assembling wired wax foundation frames
- Building sturdier, longer-lasting frames
- Wiring frames in batches
- Anyone using brass eyelets in frame sidebars
How to use
Place an eyelet into a pre-drilled hole in the frame sidebar, position the punch over it, and press firmly to seat it cleanly. Once installed, the eyelet lets you tighten the frame wire without it digging into the wood. Repeat for each wiring hole before stringing the wire.
