How to grow
Start seeds indoors 1 to 2 weeks before the last frost, and sow every 2 weeks for a succession harvest. Plant in moderate soil rich in organic matter with even, moderate water. Chard tolerates light frosts when young and moderate freezes once established, and it also adapts to warm summers. Harvest outer stalks early, or cut the whole plant to let it regrow.
Flavor profile
Mild and slightly earthy, the tender leaves are excellent steamed, sauteed, or used fresh in salads.
