The Foundationless Frames - Deep 9 1/8-inch let bees build their own natural comb instead of using a foundation sheet. Each frame includes a top bar, bottom bar, two sidebars, and a full-length wooden starter strip that guides the bees to draw straight comb. A solid bottom bar gives small hive beetles fewer places to hide.

How to use

If unassembled, join the bars and sidebars with nails or staples and quality wood glue so the frame holds up in the hive, keeping the starter strip in place along the top bar. The strip guides the bees to draw straight comb. Because there is no foundation, the pure comb can be cut through cleanly for comb or chunk honey.
