Golden Detroit Beet (Beta vulgaris, Crassa group) is a heirloom beet with golden-orange roots that do not bleed when cooked, turning a deep golden yellow instead. Its oval roots grow fast and stay sweet and tender even when large, making them an excellent choice for pickling, roasting, and salads. Organic.

How to grow

Sow 1/2" deep in well-drained soil at 50-85 F, germinating in 5 to 10 days. Grow in partial sun and thin to 2" to 4" apart for well-formed roots. Roots mature in 55 to 60 days and hold their sweet flavor even at larger sizes. The tender greens can be sauteed or added to soups.
