Hollyhock Indian Springs Mix (Alcea rosea) is an open-pollinated biennial cottage-garden flower in delicate shades of pink, rose, and white. Often called an annual hollyhock for its tendency to bloom the first year, it makes a dramatic, towering statement and readily self-seeds.

How to grow
For an early season, start seed indoors 4 weeks before the last frost, then transplant or direct-sow after frost danger passes. Direct seed 2" apart in rows spaced 24", planting 1/4" deep, and thin to 12" apart. Grow in full sun with moderate water in adaptable soil. Plants bloom in summer and self-seed for following years.
