La Motte Litmus pH Papers (200 Strips)

La Motte Litmus pH Papers (200 Strips) are a fast, inexpensive way to gauge whether soil or a solution is acidic or alkaline. Each vial holds 200 strips, and a quick dip into a soil-water slurry reveals a reading within seconds with no special equipment needed. As a general test, litmus papers indicate an approximate range rather than an exact pH like a meter or reagent kit.

At a glance

• Type: Litmus color-change pH papers
• Quantity: 200 strips per vial
• Range: pH 3 to 10 (8-point color chart included)
• Test sample: 1 part soil to 1 part distilled water
• Use for: Soil, compost, and water testing

Best for

• Quick field checks and on-the-spot soil readings
• Early troubleshooting of soil conditions
• Home gardens, small farms, and market growers
• Economical, regular monitoring through the season
• Supporting organic soil management

How to use

Mix 1 part soil with 1 part distilled water to make a slurry, then dip a strip. Compare the resulting color to the included chart, which maps to 8 possible pH numbers from 3 to 10. For an exact reading, use a reagent test kit or pH meter. The moisture-resistant vial keeps strips ready for storage or transport.
