  • Type: Heirloom, open-pollinated okra, AAS winner
  • Plant height: 3 to 4 feet
  • Sun: Full sun
  • Soil: Fertile, well-drained, slightly acidic to neutral
  • Spacing: 12 to 18 inches

How to grow

Sow in full sun after soil is thoroughly warm, spacing plants 12 to 18 inches apart. Keep moisture consistent during hot, dry spells. Harvest pods young at 2 to 3 inches, every day or two, to keep the plants producing. Note the red color softens to green when cooked.

Flavor profile

Mild and grassy with a tender bite when young, much like green okra, with the bonus of vivid color on the plant and plate.
