Pest Wizard Squash Vine Borer Kit Trap

The Pest Wizard Squash Vine Borer Kit Trap is a complete monitoring system that pairs paper delta traps with pheromone lures to catch squash vine borer (Melittia cucurbitae). Trapping adult moths early gives organic gardeners a chemical-free way to protect squash and pumpkins before larvae bore into the vines.

At a glance

• Type: Complete trap kit (traps plus lures)
• Kit contains: 2 paper delta traps and 2 lures
• Target: Squash vine borer (Melittia cucurbitae)
• Lure life: Replace lures every 30 days
• For crops: Squash and pumpkins
• Placement: Hang about 4 ft (1.3 m) high, a few feet from the plants

Best for

• Monitoring squash and pumpkin patches for borer activity
• Catching adult moths before they lay eggs on stems
• Early detection of an emerging infestation
• Vegetable garden and small farm IPM programs
• Tracking the effectiveness of a treatment strategy

How to use

Deploy traps in spring through summer. Place a lure on the sticky floor of each trap and hang it about 4 ft high, a few feet from the plants. Check weekly, since catching the pest may signal an infestation is underway or about to begin. Replace lures every 30 days and swap traps as they fill with insects.
