Small Hive Beetle Oil Pan Trap
Small Hive Beetle Oil Pan Trap
The Small Hive Beetle Oil Pan Trap is a low-profile plastic tray that slides under a screen bottom board to catch small hive beetles and varroa mites in oil. Beetles and mites that fall through the screen land in the oil and cannot climb out, providing passive, in-hive control.
At a glance
- Type: Under-screen oil pan beetle and mite trap
- Material: Heavyweight, rigid plastic
- Fit: Slides under Foxhound screen bottom boards; sizes for 10, 8, or 5 frames

How to use
Slide the tray into the grooves under the screen bottom board on a level hive. With a few inches still sticking out, pour a thin layer of vegetable-based oil, about 1/4 inch deep, into the pan, then slide it fully in to seal. Check weekly, strain out debris, and reuse the oil all season.
These trays are not universal and may not fit other suppliers' screen bottom boards or Foxhound bottom boards sold in 2020 and earlier.
