Sow 1 to 1 1/2 inches deep once soil reaches 70 to 95 degrees, with germination in 10 to 20 days. Grow in full sun in well-draining soil rich in organic matter and give vines 3 to 5 feet of space. Water consistently while fruit is sizing up. Harvest when the rind is nearly black and the fruit sounds full.
