Sweet Marjoram (Origanum majorana) is a fragrant culinary herb with leaves that carry a sweet, spicy aroma and flavor, much like oregano but softer and sweeter. An attractive container and border plant, it grows 1 to 2 feet tall and pairs well with a wide range of dishes.

How to grow
Sow seeds shallowly, about 1/4 inch deep, in full sun and keep lightly moist until they sprout. Plants sprawl quickly, so give them room. Harvest leaves throughout the season and dry surplus at season's end to extend their use. It returns as a tender perennial only in Zones 9 to 11.
