Caramel Apple Pie Tea Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 Caramel Apple Pie Tea bag, steeped in 1/3 cup hot water and cooled
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/3 cup caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.
  2. Steep the tea bag in hot water for 5 minutes, then remove and let cool completely.
  3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl.
  4. Cream together softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  5. Beat in eggs one at a time, then alternate adding flour mixture and sour cream, beginning and ending with flour.
  6. Stir in the cooled tea infusion until just combined.
  7. Pour into prepared pan and bake 28-32 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool for 10 minutes in pan, then invert onto a wire rack.
  9. Once cooled, drizzle with caramel sauce and serve.
