How to grow
Sow seeds indoors in early spring or outdoors as soon as the soil is workable, covering with 1/4 inch of fine soil and allowing 12 to 18 inches between rows. Onions prefer loose, fertile, well-drained soil at pH 6.0 to 7.0; mulch to hold moisture and control weeds. Thin or transplant seedlings to 6 inches once they reach 4 inches tall. At maturity, bend the tops, lift the bulbs once leaves brown, and dry in the shade at least 7 days before storing cool and dry.
Flavor profile
Cabernet offers a crisp, firm bite with a mild, slightly sweet flavor and deep red rings that hold their color on sandwiches and in salads.
