The Pest Wizard California Red Scale Trap Kit is a pesticide-free monitoring set that uses pheromone-baited traps to detect California red scale (Aonidiella aurantii) in citrus trees.

At a glance

• Type: Pheromone monitoring trap kit
• Target pest: California red scale (Aonidiella aurantii)
• Includes: 2 traps, 2 pheromone lures, and 2 metal hangers
• Lure life: Up to 30 days; store unopened lures cool or frozen
• Coverage: One trap per citrus tree
• Use timing: Spring through fall, during active pest season

Best for

• Early detection of California red scale
• Citrus orchards and backyard fruit trees
• Organic and sustainable growing systems
• Trapping scale males to disrupt mating
• Integrated pest management programs

How to use

Peel the cover paper off quickly at an angle, attach the lure, and hang the trap at shoulder height inside the host citrus tree. The lure draws scale males, which get stuck and can no longer mate. Monitor weekly, replace lures about every 30 days, and swap traps as they fill through the active season.
