Pest Wizard Olive Fruit Fly Trap Kit

The Pest Wizard Olive Fruit Fly Trap Kit is a complete monitoring system that pairs yellow sticky traps with pheromone lures to catch olive fruit flies (Dacus oleae). It gives organic olive growers a chemical-free way to track and trap adults, whose larvae feed and pupate inside the fruit.

At a glance

• Type: Complete trap kit (traps plus lures)
• Kit contains: 2 yellow sticky traps, 2 sixty-day lures, and 4 hangers
• Target: Olive fruit fly (Dacus oleae)
• Lure life: About 60 days per lure
• Storage: Keep unopened lures in the refrigerator or freezer
• Placement: Hang at least 4 ft above ground, away from foot traffic and livestock

Best for

• Monitoring olive orchards for fruit fly pressure
• Trapping adult flies before they lay eggs in the fruit
• Early detection of an emerging infestation
• Orchard IPM programs
• Tracking the effectiveness of a treatment strategy

How to use

Deploy traps in spring. Place a lure on each trap, securing it with a paperclip, and hang the trap at least 4 ft above ground, away from foot traffic and livestock. Check weekly, since catching the pest may signal an infestation is underway or about to begin. Replace lures about every 60 days and swap traps as they fill with insects.
