Sage Seeds (Organic)
Sage Seeds (Organic)
Sage (Salvia officinalis) is an organic, large-leaved culinary perennial herb with soft, silvery-green, fragrant leaves. A long-lived Mediterranean favorite, it is used fresh or dried as a poultry and meat seasoning and makes a soothing tea. Spikes of purple flowers in summer add ornamental appeal and draw bees and butterflies.

How to grow
Sow seeds just 1/16 inch deep in warm soil around 65 to 70°F; germination takes 7 to 21 days. Thin plants to 12 to 18 inches apart in well-draining soil. Sage is drought-tolerant once established. Harvest leaves regularly to encourage fresh growth, and prune after flowering to keep the plant from getting leggy or woody.
Flavor profile
Bold, savory, and earthy with a warm, slightly peppery aroma. Sage shines in stuffing, roasted meats, soups, and brown-butter sauces, and works equally well fresh or dried.
