Tree Growing Containers - Cone-tainers Cells, Recycled
Tree Growing Containers - Cone-tainers Cells, Recycled
Cone-tainers Cells (Recycled) are individual cone-shaped cells that promote strong tree-seedling roots through air pruning and ribbed interiors that prevent root spiraling. Made from recycled plastic for 3 to 5 uses, they are partially vented for airflow between cells and rearrange freely within a support tray.
At a glance
- Material: Recycled plastic, good for 3 to 5 uses
- Cell size: 1.5 inch diameter top, 8 inches deep (tapering)
- Root care: Interior ribs prevent spiraling; air pruning at the base
- Airflow: Partially vented between cells
- Compatibility: Use only with the Cone-tainer Cell Tray (GP351), which holds 98 cells
Best for
- Starting tree seedlings and rooting cuttings
- Deciduous, evergreen, fruit, and ornamental trees
- Nurseries and reforestation projects
- Growers who want air-pruned, fibrous roots
How to use
Set the cone cells into the matching support tray, since they are not free-standing on their own. Fill with a well-draining potting mix, sow seeds or insert cuttings, and water. As roots reach the ribbed, vented sides and open base, they are naturally pruned to build a strong root system. Slide a seedling out by its cell for easy, low-shock transplanting. Cells and support trays are sold separately.
