How to grow
Sow seeds 1/2 inch deep directly in the garden, with germination in 4 to 12 days at soil temperatures of 45 to 95 degrees. Grow in full sun in well-drained soil with added organic matter and a pH of 6.0 to 7.0, avoiding excess nitrogen for good root development. Sow in late summer or fall for best results, since warm spring temperatures can cause bolting, and thin plants to 3 inches apart. Harvest around 3 to 4 inches across, as roots grow milder and woodier the longer they stay in the ground.
Flavor profile
Mild and peppery-sweet with crisp flesh and a striking pink interior.
