Argyle Cheese Farmer at Madeline's
Share
Argyle Cheese Farmer is an upstate New York dairy that sources its milk locally and works exclusively with A2 milk. Marge and Dave Randles built the Cheese House in 2007 on Dave's family farmstead in Argyle, New York, a farm that had been running since 1860. In 2020 the business partnered with a sixth-generation dairy and moved into a larger processing facility in nearby Hudson Falls.
The lineup is built on house-made cultured dairy. The Greek yogurt is drained the traditional way to pull off much of the whey, which leaves it thick enough to hold its shape on a spoon, in plain, vanilla, and maple. The maple Greek yogurt, made with local maple syrup, has won Best Flavored Yogurt at the New York State Fair. Sweet Greeks layer that yogurt over a spoonful of house-made jam.
Beyond yogurt, the dairy makes fresh, squeaky cheese curds cut weekly, a rotating set of farmstead hard cheeses sold as 8 ounce pieces, and a range of dips and spreads built on its own Greek yogurt and Quark, a soft fresh cheese similar to cream cheese.
